With AQUA, you no longer need to hold a long selfie stick, hire an expensive cameraman, or worry about crashing a drone into water. We've been thrilled by the enthusiasm from our early supporters, and we want to help everyone get the most from their AQUA experience. Today, we will answer some of the most commonly asked questions about this revolutionary device, from changing battery on the water to its special features that make water photography effortless.

HOVERAir AQUA is perfect whether you are a water sports enthusiast wanting to capture your best moments during activities like kayaking and surfing, or if you need a waterproof drone to fly from the boat or beach. 

HOVERAir AQUA is the world's first 100% waterproof self-flying camera designed for capturing water sports like never before. It follows you automatically, delivering stunning close-up aerial shots completely hand-free from kayaking and SUPing to high-speed sports like surfing, foiling, and jetskiing. You can even mount it directly to your board for first-person views. 

AQUA offers 15+ autonomous flight modes, from various following angles to cinematic effects such as Zoom Out and Bird's Eye. 

AQUA is perfect to fly from the boat, the beach, or over land. It works with our Beacon & Joysticks, offering up to 1 km transmission range, and you don't need to worry about landing accidentally in the water.

There are three ways to control your AQUA:

• Using Lighthouse for automatic flight modes and manual control
• Manual control with Beacon and JoySticks
• Manual control through the Hover X1 app

The Beacon and JoySticks are included in the Land and Sea Combo. They are compatible with the same ones from X1 PRO and PROMAX. If you already own them, there's no need to purchase them again!

Lighthouse is AQUA's companion and guide. It's used to control takeoff and landing and is connected to AQUA via RTK, a technology which provides centimeter-level GPS accuracy. In this way, AQUA is able to follow you accurately even when you are visually lost and can return accurately to you. If connection is lost, AQUA automatically returns to the Lighthouse's last known position. 

In addition, you never need to worry about losing your AQUA in the sea. VirtualTether creates a real-time location-sharing link between AQUA and the Lighthouse. If the distance between devices exceeds a preset limit, AQUA automatically flies back within range of the user. This lets you stay completely immersed in your activity without worrying about losing your flying camera. 

Yes! AQUA is fully waterproof with the battery in, but the battery on its own is not waterproof. Before changing the battery, please make sure both the battery, battery connectors and the battery cavity are completely dry. You can use the included waterproof battery bag to store your battery and keep it dry. 

For activities like kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, where you have a relatively dry place to work, you can keep the battery in a waterproof bag and swap it out while still on the kayak or boat. Make sure to completely dry both the battery and battery cavity with a tissue or napkin before inserting a new battery. 

For sports like surfing and kitesurfing, where your hands are occupied or you're constantly in the water, we recommend changing the battery on land or on a boat. Alternatively, you can connect AQUA to Beacon, allowing AQUA to fly back to a friend on shore who can swap the battery for you. You can then use Lighthouse to recall the AQUA.

AQUA is designed for water-perfect imagery. It features a self-heating, anti-fog lens designed for perfect images on the water. Its hydrophobic coating repels water droplets, ensuring consistently sharp footage. It packs a large 1/1.28" sensor for excellent photo and video quality even in low light, records up to 4K at 100 fps, and supports both HDR and H‑Log for professional-grade videos. 

Our entire camera system from lens to internal housing structures have been designed to reduce reflection. The multi-layer nano-coating on the lens is also designed to ensure most light travels directly to the sensor to eliminate ghost images.

AQUA floats on water but doesn't move across the surface like a boat would. In Snorkel Mode, AQUA floats on the water with its camera pointing downward, capturing captivating underwater scenes. When using Mount Mode, you can attach it to your kayak or board for immersive POV footage, getting up to 150 minutes of operating time. With 128 GB internal storage, there's plenty of room to record your best moments.

Yes! AQUA delivers exceptional performance in a compact 249g waterproof design. It reaches speeds of 34 mph (55 km/h), provides up to 23 minutes of flight time, and withstands level 7 wind conditions. Whether you're filming in heavy rain or choppy seas, AQUA performs reliably in challenging environments and adverse weather conditions. For those of you in rainy locations, this might just become your everyday drone.

Yes, the Lighthouse is waterproof and also floats! However, being underwater can interfere with the connection, so we do not recommend a use case where you are underwater for prolonged periods of time (like diving). Normal splashes, like swimming or falling while surfing, will be fine.

You can launch AQUA in three ways: directly from water, from the ground, or by holding the top and releasing it into the air. Note: Do not launch AQUA directly from your palm.

You will receive a low battery warning from the Lighthouse, and AQUA automatically flies back and lands safely when the battery runs low. You won't lose your device due to a dead battery. If the user continues to fly the device, it will eventually land in place when the battery becomes critically low.

There are a variety of following angles you can choose from, including Follow (from the back), Side Track, Dolly Track, and Overhead Follow that handle most water and land activities effectively. For kayaking and surfing, we are designing new dedicated flight modes specifically optimized for these activities. 

When on a boat, first stop or slow down the vessel and recall the AQUA using the return to home function via Lighthouse. As it approaches, switch to manual control to fine-tune its position, then grab the upper part of the AQUA's body and flip it upside down to stop the motors. If you're on calm water, you can also land the AQUA directly on the water's surface near your boat for easy pickup.
